“In 1985, the cultivation of olive trees in Tuscany had been completely destroyed by frost. The landscape had undergone a drastic change. 96 percent of the centuries-old olive trees at the “Le Corti” Estate had been destroyed. Today, a large part of the olive groves have been planted in the area of the estate overlooking Florence. The principal cultivar is Frantoio followed by, in order of importance, the Moraiolo, Leccino and Pendolino varieties. The olive grove renewal, which began in 1986, is still in progress.”
Since 2003, this olive oil has been identified with the designation of Extra Virgin Olive Oil of Chianti Classico DOP, and after a four-year commitment, it has also received its organic certification issued by the QC&I.
